Review of The Limey (1999) by Jason M — 12 Jul 2007
Steven Soderbergh made a huge comeback and 1998 with the brilliant Out of Sight. And although this movie may not be as flashy as Out of Sight, it is certainly equally brilliant. This hard edged thriller, about Wilson, an aging British criminal just out of prison who travels to L.
A. to find his daughter's killer is steeped in regret. Although this film is a memory piece, it is not very nostalgic, Stamp's character is faced with a life of regret because of the choices he has made.
And as a thriller, it is very austere and brutal, as Stamp is out for revenge. Although this may be one of Soderbergh's lesser known works, this is certainly one of his best films. A Masterpiece.
