Review of The Limey (1999) by Goran M — 06 Sep 2010
Soderbergh's triumph to make over used revenge type of story into something new and fresh. The direction in this film is totally great. The almost hand held method of filming combining with the story told in a very non-linear style, flashbacks and real-time events expressed by fluttering scenes and an almost wispy presentation.
Soderbergh also employs scenes from one of Terrence Stamp's films from the 1960's for some flashbacks, a thoroughly brilliant and creative tactic. Terrence Stamp pulled off a great performance, presenting us with a total bad ass, cold and cynical.
Great and original piece!
