Review of The Lighthouse (2019) by Deanomite — 08 Jan 2020
This is the second movie by Robert Eggers, the first being The Witch, an excellent movie. This one also was pretty good, I think he is inspired by Bergman. The only department lacking is the dialog, there should be more philosophy to match the excellent camera/sound/acting work.
He does a lot with a $4m budget, and will likely continue to work and develop his skills at that level. How he got Willem Defoe and Robert Pattinson in his movie with that budget is a miracle. This director I feel has more untapped potential than just about anyone out there.
