Review of The Light of the Moon (2017) by Ewen K — 06 Nov 2017
This movie brings light to a subject that happens everyday but rarely discussed. It begins with a young professional woman who goes out to a bar on a Friday night in New York City and is raped while walking home.
Her life up until then resembles the day to day of many people among us, and her life thereafter is a realistic look into the distress a typical, educated, successful woman with a career might experience.
The arguments she has with boyfriend as they slowly and gruelingly learn what her needs are as a rape victim are intimate and relatable. Despite seeing her world around her remain the same after the crime--her trendy apartment, the stylish architect firm office she works at, and her social life with witty friends--we vicariously experience the inner turmoil she does.
