Review of The Light Between Oceans (2016) by Cassidy R — 02 Sep 2016
As is usually the case, the book left way more of an impact than the movie did. However, I don't know if that is because the book was able to tell the story first.
This story addresses touchy and sensitive topics like miscarriage and still births and the longing to be a mother. While the story seems to be filled with selfishness, there is a pain within the leading woman that no one could understand unless they've been through it. So I won't be surprised if this movie falls flat for a lot of viewers. But, much like the book, the movie taught me the biggest lesson of what forgiveness looks like. My favorite quote in the book, which they also stated in the movie was, "You only have to forgive once. To resent, you have to do it all day every day.".
If you don't watch the movie, at least read the book.
