Review of The Light Between Oceans (2016) by Marc L — 04 Sep 2016

I hated this movie. I knew the basics of the plot before arriving, so I was not surprised as it unfolded. I also loved the sparse scenery, beautifully photographed. The positives ended there.

I found the plot ridiculous, the acting vacuous, the plot development slow with agonizing pauses to take in the beautiful scenery that added nothing to the story. Then the deliberate attempt to pull on heart strings from several angles. The character development: zip. I didn't care about any of the characters or the story. The ending was so pat, it had no impact.

As I was watching, I kept turning to my wife saying "I hate this". So this is not an after the fact, oh it wasn't that great of a movie thing. I honestly hated it all the way through, and saw a few nice shining moments along the way. Avoid this stinker and save your money.
