Review of The Light Between Oceans (2016) by Leslie M — 17 Sep 2016
I loved this book several years ago and was delighted to see it was made into a movie. I did not remember the details of the book well enough, so watching the movie was like seeing a new story after Tom and Isabel raise Lucy - then encounter Hannah.
This was a beautiful exploration of decisions and consequences and relationships. I was struck by the thought that "Isabel is Eve", as she pleaded with Tom to keep the rescued baby. I admired Tom throughout.
I was moved by Isabel's willingness to do what was best for Lucy Grace, as long as the truth was told. Most beautiful was the resolution - with Hannah's forgiveness, Tom and Isabel's restoration, and Lucy's gratitude.
