Fassbender is endlessly gorgeous to look at. Both he and Alicia Vikander are incredibly talented and pull off wonderful, authentic performances. However, the script descends into complete over the top unbelievable melodrama that was even too much for me.

I'm surprised Cianfrance, the director played it so straight without any twists, as he had much more flair in The Place Beyond the Pines and Blue Valentine. This movie just wasn't able to emotionally sucker punch as it became a silly telenovela.
