Review of The Life of David Gale (2003) by Mark T — 07 May 2008
This movie forever changed my life and how I live it and feel about things that go on around me. It opened my eyes to the evil, murderous government that runs this country. It was the push...the start to my meeting and making some aeswom and lasting and beautiful friendships with some intelligent and incredible men and women on America's death row.
The shocking ending to this film literally blew me away! This film is by far Spacey's strongest performance since "Se7en".
When you are passionate about something you want others to be passionate about it too. David & Constance (the 2 main characters) were very passionate about abolishing the death penalty, and they were at the center of the film, so it makes sense that the tone of the film would come out the way it did.
"We spend our whole life trying to stop death. Eating, inventing, loving, praying, fighting, killing. But what do we really know about death? Just that nobody comes back. Then there comes a point- a moment- in life when your mind outlives its desires, its obsessions, when your habits survive your dreams and when your losses...maybe death is a gift. You wonder. All I can tell you is that by this time tomorrow I'll be dead. I know when. I just cannot say why. You have 24 hours to find out. -David Gale-.
