Review of The Life of David Gale (2003) by Atle L — 02 Jun 2008
An excellent political drama about David Gale, an activist against the death penalty, who is framed first for rape, and then murder.
The film is set during his last week, while he is on death row... and features a lot of flashbacks to events that happened leading up to the point where he is to be executed.
Another outstanding performance from Kevin Spacey, and a script that is really well put together, and about quite an important political topic.
Despite all it's plus points, I found the film suffered a little from predictability... having worked out almost all of the plot about halfway through the film.. with only a very slight twist at the end that I hadn't predicted. Still it is an excellent film, and one I can thoroughly recommend.
