Review of The Life of David Gale (2003) by Alissa F — 01 Sep 2008
This is one of the most meaningful and insightful films created in years. Its gripping screenplay, brilliant acting and creative cinematography explores one of America's most pressing issues in a captivating manner. Directed by the legendary Sir Alan Parker, this is the story of David Gale, a University of Texas professor of philosophy against capital punishment who is accused of murdering a fellow activist and is sent to death row.
Kevin Spacey is brilliant as David Gale, he is always very subtle and insightful portraying Gale. A story about self-sacrifice for what you believe in and featuring an excellent cast which includes Spacey, Kate Winslet and Laura Linney.
