Review of The Life of David Gale (2003) by B M — 21 Feb 2010
Funny how people can view the same film, or live in the same family while coming away with entirely different takes on the subject matter.
I thought this film to be a brilliant study not only on our Death Penalty System but also on our current Rape laws and how just one accusation, even when "retracted" can/will stay with that man (or woman) for life. "Oh they've got a good lawyer", is an all too familiar taunt and while sometimes it's true...there other times that it fails us all (just as with our death penalty).
This film was not only provocative, as is evident by the strong and emotional views brought out in viewing this piece, but I think it brought a startlingly fresh outlook on just how easily our justice system can be manipulated.
4 out of 5 stars or for Roger Ebert aficionado's I give it a very definite thumbs up!
