Review of The Life of David Gale (2003) by Dr. A — 30 Oct 2010
This story is so contrived that it lowers capital-puinishment abolishionists to the level of Jesus-freaks, willing to do anything in order to take their point across. The story dramatically well done and it has a very edgy structure, but it does make a big mistake in picking-up most of the cliches that "anti-capital punichment" films usually do, these being "it's in Texas" and that "there's an unbeliever of the cause who at the end changes his/her opinion about the subject matter" , also it end with a sort of "dramatic" chase which I don't really deem necessary in a movie about this subject.
.. the chase just gives it commercial stance. Over all, it's an ok flick, with very great performances by Kate Winslet (hubba hubba), Laura linney (hubba hubba again) and Kevin Spacey.
