Review of The Life Before Her Eyes (2007) by Aaron B — 12 May 2008
A meandering character study of a person at two different stages of her life, stages separated by an unbelievabley tragic event. While the filim does open with a bang and constantly cuts back and forth to this life changing moment in her life, the film, to me at least, lacks forward momentum and gets a little boring at points.
That's not to say that its completely without merit. The acting was pretty good, and the cinematography was fantastic. Also, the scenes of the school shooting were appropriately visceral and disturbing.
The ending had its heart in the right place, but it came off with a little bit of a hyporitical message to me. I think that I thought this movie would have a little more of a surreal, maybe even supernatural element to it, based on the way it was marketed, and that's why I was disappointed.
