Review of The Life Before Her Eyes (2007) by Drew G — 28 May 2008
A beautifully composed film that asks some difficult questions of both the characters and its audience as it unfolds. Uma Thurman and Evan Rachel Wood play the same character at different stages of life, faced with the impact of a horrific, life-altering event.
Both leads provide superb performances, with some standout work as well from Eva Amurri as the main character's best friend and Gabrielle Brennan as her daughter. As one finds themselves working through the story, and exposed to the stakes at play early-on, more opportunity for introspection will present itself.
That's not necessarily a bad thing and can prove one of the more valuable gifts celluloid is capable of providing.
