Review of The Life Before Her Eyes (2007) by Shawn English — 28 Sep 2008
My friend Crystal recommended this movie to me, and I was not disappointed. I have heard it compared to the movie "Stay," but where Stay was often too artistic to be accessible, "The Life Before Her Eyes" was easy to follow and very engaging.
Seeing Uma Thurman portray such a depressed character, stirred a great amount of ache in me, and actually I live for that kind of catalyst. There's nothing happy about this film, and it doesn't celebrate life.
If anything, it just underscores the notion that life can be trite, so how long we 'stay' is really not important - how we live, is everything.
