Review of The Life Before Her Eyes (2007) by Harrison B — 16 Feb 2011
I am giving this film 3 stars for what was a great concept and idea. Uma Thurman also provides a decent performance. However, the film is disjointed in its delivery and the plot/pacing and editing tend to veer this one towards a t.v. movie of the month feel. A fairly good t.v. movie of the month albeit, which is too bad because it has its moments. The delivery therefore would get somewhere around a 2 and a half.
The film throws you straight into the thick of things as we are exposed to the central drama, a high school shooting in which we find two best friends locked in a bathroom facing gun point and asked the question, which one of you wants to live and which one wants to die. From there the film takes us on a journey of these two faces attempting to cope with that traumatic event in the aftermath by exploring the weight of the decisions that litters their lives up to that point.
As I said, there are some great ideas here and some good moments. But it all simply leaves one feeling that this could have been so much better.
