Review of The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (2004) by Joel S — 11 Oct 2010
Initially misunderstood, I hope this film doesn't get buried away and lost, because it's truly remarkable and unique. Bill Murray, especially in the latter half of his career, has reminded us time and again that there's a very good reason for his longevity.
The man is a natural comedic talent who doesn't "play" funny; instead, he plays real, and happens to be funny. He leads a stellar cast on Wes Anderson's whimsically heartwarming tale of love, companionship, and revenge.
Really, how many films can fit that bill? In a sea of generic mediocrity, "The Life Aquatic" stands out as a magnificent and rare specimen of devouring beauty.
