I absolutely loved this movie. It reminds me a lot of my favorite Hal Ashby movies. The characters are eccentric but deeply human, and all care about each other even when they do things that are stupid and hurtful.
It is slow in places but I really thought every scene built the characters and moved the plot along. Beautiful scenes and special effects. If you hated it the first time you saw it, I recommend giving it another shot, maybe after a couple of glasses of your favorite wine.
