I really think you need to see Rushmore before you see later Wes Anderson movies Just to get a hold on where he is coming from. I saw Rushmore and The Royal Tenenbaums before this movie. There is a recurring theme in all three.
Aside from the quirky deadpan one liners and the banal within the implausable, Anderson seems to see the world through a childs eyes. He's an extremely clever big kid and like all big kids he has a big imagination and a big heart.
After seeing my third Anderson movie I can see that he is also a little bit of a genius.
