Often disturbing, almost always amusing. bill murray was the obvious choice for steve zissou, one of the biggest arse-hole heroes i've ever come across in a film which I actually enjoyed. owen wilson is pretty good to, as is willem dafoe (nice to see him out of the usual villian role), cate blanchett and angelica housten.
and sir michael gambon piloted a delightful cameo. I was very impressed by this film, even if Tom Ryan of the age wasn't. the special effects were dismal, but it made the whole affair funnier.
