The Life Aquatic has been referred to as odd, ironic, smug and strange. These words mean different things to people in the context of this film. I find it as being a really enjoyable film and one of my all time favorites.
Some critics say they can't relate to the people in the film however, sometimes takes a strange and odd person to relate to another strange and odd person. I really like the characters in the film and the execution of the film.
