Review of The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (2004) by Kasey C — 03 May 2013
The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou. Liked how Bill Murray was both serious and funny in this movie. I will never understand why any of Wes Anderson's movies are considered comedies. None of them have ever made me laugh ever.
That being said this movie was actually mildly entertaining. Decent story about father and son coming together. I liked Blanchette probably the most along with Dafoe, they both were great. This did not have the same Anderson awkwardness as the rest of his movies.
You could even say that it was creative the way he showed 'not real' forms of wildlife. It reminded me a lot more of Fantastic Mr. Fox which is by far his best movie rather than any of the other lumps of shit he directs.
Overall, decently entertaining, though not even relatively funny, an okay drama, pretty creative and visually pleasing. 5.5-6.5/10.
