Review of The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (2004) by Andrew S — 27 Aug 2013
The Life of Aquatic is sarcastic, witty, dry as hell and--overall--an essential staple in Anderson's discography. I think this has to be up with the likes of tenenbaums and moonrise in terms of being an all around well-made film.
I cannot get enough of the humor, love the shots, love the energy, and overall felt satisfied at the end. Speaking of the end, my main problem with this film would have probably been the length. Like "Darjeeling", this film begins to drag, running out of things to explore, around 80 minutes in.
I believe it runs for another 20 minutes past that point, causing even the most loyal Wes fans to lose their focus. Highly recommended, funny film.
