Wes Anderson's movies get kind of same-y after a while. This one bears the familiar formula; it's quirky, emotionally detached, elaborately filmed and stylized. It's a formula, but it's a good formula, and it works here.
This is widely thought to be one of his lesser films, but I have a soft spot for it, and the all the stop-motion imaginary sea creatures are a cool touch.
