Review of The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp (1943) by Chris M — 12 Jun 2010
It may lack the visual exuberance of "Black Narcissus" + "The Red Shoes", this Powell + Pressburger masterpiece is filled with so much heart it's hard not to fall in love with the walrus-esque Clive Candy, detailing his 40 year military career, his friendship with a german officer and the woman he lost, then realised he loved and wound up marrying a lookalike of.
Simply marvellous, can't wait to see the restored version of it.
