Review of The Letters (2014) by Mik O — 04 Dec 2015
After reading a rather harsh review of The Letters, I feel a little defensive and compelled to say that - it's a good movie. It tells a wonderful story about a span in the life of Mother Teresa where she committed herself to work with the poor and dying. It was inspirational, informative without pontificating. I was thoroughly absorbed.
A critic views a movie to evaluate it based on criteria that would never occur to the average movie-goer. Most movies are not particularly memorable. But I left the movie feeling very positive, and with these words of Mother Teresa etched in my brain: We cannot always do great things, but we can do small things with great love. So for me, a well spent evening with a life-long dividend.
