Review of The Lego Ninjago Movie (2017) by Norma L — 22 Sep 2017
The Lego Ninjago Movie was a heartfelt, colorful, and fun adventure. The story between father and son was a tender one, and though it was a common plot, the movie handled it in a cute and entertaining way.
Unfortunately, it did not live up to the hype. Viewers will be disappointed in the very little amount of participation from the supporting characters, lack of references to the show, missing content hinted from advertising material, and rushed plot line.
Scenes seen in the advertisements, behind the scenes, and outtakes are just flat-out missing- and we did not even see the teen ninja using their advertised weapons at all in the film. A song from the soundtrack is only referenced in the movie but the lovely tune is never played, and the poor ladies of the film barely get any screen time or a chance to contribute to the story.
In my opinion, it felt as if the movie was a flat-out advertisement for the declining sales of Ninjago sets, which is a shame since many were very excited to see what this film had to offer, considering such a wonderful team was behind it.
In short, the film was amazing, but could have been awesome. 3/5.
