Review of The Lego Movie (2014) by Byron B — 15 Mar 2015
A good movie, not a great movie. Kinda meh. I liked the concept of the Kragle and Lord Business's collection of human relics from another world, but I wanted more. The Kragle gets repetitive. I wished the writers would have found more unusual uses for human junk in the LEGO world.
Kinda funny the different styled worlds within the LEGO world, but overall too flashy and frantic. The moral of the story is supposed to be about creativity and awesomeness. The real world scenes with a father who takes LEGO building too seriously and stifles his son's sense of play could have been so funny because I know some parents who approach this type of obsession with kid's toys.
Instead, Will Ferrell and the writers/directors try to make these scenes too somber. This movie employs tons of celebrity actors instead of giving true voice artists work, too.
