Review of The Lego Movie (2014) by Joshua M — 20 Aug 2015
I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the movie. Even with it "jumping the shark" about 2/3rds of the way through the movie (in my opinion), it was still a lot of fun. Will Ferrell went a little overboard with his character, more than he has done in the past, but he's fine in the role.
It was great how Phil Lord and Chris Miller made creativity, a major tenet of the Lego brand, a big part of the film's plot and main message, as well as how they used it in their combination of regular Lego use and digital copies of Legos (especially for the various locations and effects like fire and explosions).
Will Arnett's LEGO Batman was also a highlight of the movie for me.
