Review of The Lego Movie (2014) by Alfatih S — 16 Jan 2019
The best and closest film we will get to a real stop motion movie. Although it does include some special effects and CGI. Everyone has some sort of history with lego. The main character was Emmet played by Chris Pratt. I would have thought this was a bad idea since Chris Pratt is commonly known as a live-action actor, but you won't disagree that his voice fits the characters personality. This movie felt like Guardians of The Galaxy not because of the cast because the development with the team was very similar to Guardians, but with a smudge of silliness. The rest of the team are listed, principal character to secondary character, Wyldstyle, Batman, Vitruvius, Unikitty, Metalbeard, and Benny. They were voiced by Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett, Morgan Freeman, Alison Brie, Nick Offerman, Charlie Day. they were all great especially Will Arnett Batman. As I said this movie is super silly and he recalled me of a very old school Batman film.
The movement had no plot holes - which is surprising. Not to say that I was surprised at this film particularly. It was just that all films have their mishaps, big and small. But there is (not a lot) of audio and visual unsynchronised parts. Chris Miller and Phil Lord both created Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, so they definitely have experience with comedic animation. The music based around the movie was annoyingly catchy. This animations moral was great, it was: Everyone is unique and has there own talent and what is actually sang in the song "Everything is awesome when you are part of a team". Phil and Chris are good at making a perfectly moral and you would know if you checked out there film, Spider-Man into the Spider-Verse.
The villain actually had a good ending. Not a villainous way, a moral way. The direction they went with to animate the glimmer or shininess on the lego bricks was incredible. Also the use of the types of bricks they used and the way the used clothing was great. This can lead to a fun mini lego universe film. The unimaginable film overall for a family-friendly, animated comedy.
Grade: A+.
