Review of The Lego Batman Movie (2017) by Alex A — 02 Mar 2017
Visually, and world building-wise, The Lego Batman Movie is a triumph. Semi-obvious praise goes to the voice acting, self-satire and references to previous incarnations of Batman. The humor garners its hilarious moments, but there's misfires and occasional repetitiveness too.
The inclusion of iconic villains outside of DC is both a pro and a con, as it's fun to guess who they are, while simultaneously causing the third act to feel bloated. Not to mention the runtime could've been trimmed a little.
In many ways the little things accumulated give the film its charm, and The Lego Batman Movie is a creative, literal block-buster.
