Review of The Lego Batman Movie (2017) by Mrmoviebuff — 26 Jun 2017

'The LEGO Batman Movie' is hilarious from start to finish. It's like 'Deadpool' (2016) for kids, the self-referential humor and snappy dialogue make this movie fun, and energetic. We see that Batman (voiced by Will Arnett) has taken down his ultimate enemy, the Joker (voiced by Zach Galifinakis), and Batman makes him realize that he has other enemies that are arguably no more important as he is, which leaves the Joker feeling vulnerable and disheartened.

We then see Batman living a very quiet life in his mansion. He has no other friends, nor does he attend any parties. His butler, Alfred (Ralph Fiennes) tries to inform him about how too quiet and lonesome his life could get.

One day, while attending Commissioner Gordon's party, he meets a young orphan who goes by the name Dick Grayson (Michael Cera), and wants Bruce Wayne to adopt him. Bruce does this unknowingly as he is distracted by developing a loving feeling for Barbara Gordon (Rosario Dawson), who then tells Gotham that Batman is not a very good hero for the city, as he makes no attempts to catch the evil criminals.

Bruce, shocked by this, tries to make a change, but the Joker has other plans. This movie contains, once again, some of the best mix of stop-motion animation and CGI animation that we've seen from 'The LEGO Movie' (2014), and still has that irreverent humor, only this time, all the jokes poke fun at the history of Batman and DC Comics (there's even a subtle jab at 'Suicide Squad').

Will Arnett provides his best vocal range for the character, and proves that this character, who we got a glimpse of in 'The LEGO Movie' (2014), can carry his own movie. After this, I'd like to see a "LEGO Superman Movie", as well as many more spin-offs and sequels to come.

This franchise has a bright and inventive future.
