Review of The Legend of Zorro (2005) by Rob C — 05 Oct 2009
The Legend of Zorro takes place about ten years after the first film. The chemistry between Zorro and Elena have faltered a bit. The chemistry isn't there like it had been in The Mask of Zorro. It made the latter so strong and I had hoped it would have gotten stronger over the years.
Come on, it's the movies. But, just like relationships real life counterparts, nothing lasts forever. We're also introduced to their son, Joaquin (Adrian Alonso) and a much better villian in Armand (Rufus Sewell), who Elena has gone undercover as his love interest.
Something that doesn't sit well with Zorro. He also has his own personal battle with his son who thinks he's a wimp. Zorro leads a double life where he only fights as his masked counterpart, and stays pacifist when he's not in uniform.
I wish they could of polished up the plot a little more. It didn't have that edge like in The Mask of Zorro.
