Review of The Legend of Bagger Vance (2000) by Wes M — 11 Mar 2013
"I hear you lost your swing. I guess we got to go find it." Hmm. well, I can't believe I'm saying this, but Happy Gilmore was more enjoyable. This was decent, but I find myself picking out more flaws than strengths.
Smith and Damon can carry practically any movie rather easily, and it is does have some neat moments (O, and Jack Lemmon narrates for his final role). But idk, I'm not the biggest fan of the sports genre, and don't see any replay value in it.
Also, there's quite a bit of overacting by Charlize Theron. And sometimes the dialogue was great, other times, it missed the mark. I don't see why everybody was complaining that the movie didn't confront racism, does every movie have to do that? So apparently, Robert Redford either makes really feckin good movies i.
E. Quiz Show, Ordinary People, A River Runs Through It, or he makes really "par" movies (hehe) i.e. this one, Lions For Lambs, The Conspirator. Unfortunately, this was my first Redford.
