Review of The Leech Woman (1960) by James-Masaki R — 25 Nov 2011
It's actually a lot better than I was expecting. Maybe I watched too much Douglas Sirk 50's movies recently, but "The Leech Woman" seemed close to what Sirk MIGHT have done if he mixed his ravaged-female melodrama stories and mixed it with voodoo horror.
Edward Dein's direction is a lot more on the bland side, but this bizarre anti-aging story, with a doctor and his almost estranged wife go to Africa to discover the ultimate way for women to regain their youth, but at a cost of sacrificing a man's life.
It's a silly story, but I thought it was good for a 50's Universal B movie with a terrible rating...
