Review of The League of Gentlemen's Apocalypse (2005) by Paul C — 27 Oct 2007
Although not a massive fan of the series on which this movie was based, it was nonetheless essential viewing and was packed with some truly inspired characters. This is however where this film falls down! Due to the plot - in which Royston Vasey locals must cross over into our world to prevent the writer's killing them off and therefore preventing a disaster of apocalyptic proportions - we are unfortunatly lumbered with the more 'normal' characters (Hilary Briss, Herr Lipp etc) rather than the more memorable exaggerated characters (Papa Lazarou, Edward and Tubbs) although they do appear.
.....but all too briefly. There are, however, loads of cameos from some great British acting and comic talent - look out for David Warner who completely steals the film for me.
