Review of The League of Gentlemen (1960) by Erik K — 03 Aug 2011
This very English post-war film (with a weak ending) makes me wonder if the bank heist film/fantasy is really a quasi-fascist pseudo-anti-capitalist fantasy. Or in other words, they're not against banks, money, private property, capitalism per se, but rather their lack of control thereof, their being subject to the control thereof, their exclusion from the capitalist ruling class.
Compare with Fight Club or The Wild Bunch.
