Review of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003) by Randall V — 23 Apr 2010
This isn't nearly as bad as it's made out to be, but that doesn't make it good. This is a stupid film. A really really stupid film. But then again, look at its premise: Victorian Literature characters form a superhero team and fight evil.
If it had been done well, this could have been one of the best "check your brain at the door" flicks ever. Unforunately, its missteps are frequent. The plot goes everywhere and nowhere, the fight choreography is terrible, and the non-Victorian Tom Sawyer (who was not in the comic book) is a needless addition.
It does have it's moments though, and The Invisible Man and Dorian Gray (also not in the book) are enjoyable. 4 out of 10.
