Review of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003) by Tyler R — 21 Sep 2012
This film is like the literary version of The Avengers, and I enjoyed every second of it. The film brings together all of literature's memorable characters on one team as they try to stop literary's greatest villain before he can start a war.
The acting from all is very good, and their portrayals of the literary icons they portray, especially Sean Conney, is top notch. The film has fun with it's odd premise and never takes itself too seriously.
The film nails the period tone perfectly, and it all seems authentic. The visuals are especially impressive, and really shine when we are introduced to The Nautilus. The film was a fun one for me, and I have never wanted a sequel more after seeing the little tease scene at the end.
It's a fun film for anyone who knows of the literary icons, and it is worth a watch.
