Review of The Lazarus Effect (2015) by Guillermo C — 05 Mar 2015
First time I saw the trailer, I was expecting a creepy well done horror movie, however the second time I watched it, I really did not pay much attention to it, so my expectations were low. I'll give it the benefit of a doubt that it was not as bad as I thought it was going to be. The biggest problem with this horror film, was it was not scary, therefore making it fail of what it was trying to do.
The acting was not that bad, it was the story telling that was the disappointing part. Some jump scares were not necessary and badly done. The only thing that had going for this film was the mirror scene, which might be in the trailer, don't really remember, but the imagery in that scene was creepy. Also the ending went from "stupid" to "oh shit!" to "Really?".
Overall I recommend seeing this if you ever see it on Netflix and if you are a horror buff. If you get scared easily then maybe this film might get to you, but if you need a story to be terrified, then bumps in the night won't keep you up after watching this.
1.8 / 5 Stars.
