Review of The Lazarus Effect (2015) by Giovanni M — 16 Mar 2015
The Lazarus Effects has some great (although, weirdly out of place) comedic actors like Donald Glover and Mark Duplass and other talents like the star Olivia Wilde and Evan Peters (who for some reason is the supposed comedic relief).
It also has a somewhat cool concept, however it never comes to fruition. The Lazarus Effect is an unfortunately lazy and by-the-numbers horror film with a surprising lack of scares. It's not that the film has a lot of failed attempts at scaring you, it's the lack of attempts.
They don't try to scare you and it feels like someone telling a ghost story but keeps skipping over the scary parts because they're around little kids. The actors are fine, but aren't given much to do and that really can be blamed on the really uninspired script.
Actually, that's what we can blame the whole movie on.
