Review of The Lawnmower Man (1992) by Craig W — 09 Jun 2012
I actually saw this as a child when it came to vhs so I was roughly 10 at the time and rather recently I had a very vivid dream of the film which inspired me to watch it again.
It is a pretty underrated film with an amazing performance from Fahey, he transformation from mild mannered dope to, well God is pretty damn good. The virtual reality scenes are not bad for it's time although having re watched it at an older age and having more understanding I did find them disorientating.
Jobe does become quite frightening and in the end when he fully enters the mainframe looking for a way out his virtual body and facial features are indeed rather disturbing. I feel I'm not really doing the film justice here, it has to be seen really. Words are hard to find to fully review it. But find a copy, watch it, go with it and you will see it's a gem.
