Review of The Lawnmower Man (1992) by John O — 13 Jun 2007
Another pre-matrix mind-fuck movie. It's kind of hard with a movie like this to take a look at it now in 2007 and review it accurately. Most of the sci-fi elements are kind of "Yeah, that totally couldn't happen" or, "that's kind of tacky", but honestly, it was great at the time.
It's a lot of fun for me to watch movies like this, because the direction is somewhat amateur. Kind of like Kelly's Donnie Darko, The Lawnmower Man doesn't have a whole lot of pomps and frills, and you can tell it was a film made by someone who really fell in love with the story.
All in all, a decent film.
