Review of The Last Witch Hunter (2015) by Andrew M — 22 Oct 2015
First off, the title is a misnomer; there's absolutely no reason for him to be the LAST witch hunter. He happens to be the only one right now, but there's really no reason why. Second, I personally found this rather enjoyable.
I'm pretty sure the plot makes no sense with a couple of twists you can easily guess early on, and the action scenes are mostly a jumbled mess of quick cuts, but there's something about the mythology of the universe that was created that caught my attention.
Maybe it's the slightly different take on the witches among us tale. Maybe I just like modern day stories with a fantasy element to them. Maybe it's Vin Diesel's charisma. Maybe it's Michael Caine being an enjoyable presence as always.
Who knows, but for whatever reason I had a good time watching this. Sure, it probably won't win any awards, even in the action/fantasy genre, but it was a decent night at the theatre and that's really all I ask.
Maybe it's that the main actress is a redhead.
