Review of The Last Witch Hunter (2015) by Aj C — 24 Oct 2015
This is some kind of a overblown reincarnation of The Matrix starring Vin Diesel who plays a hopeless, modern-day witch-hunter who must save the world from an evil sorceress who keeps coming back to life but plays like a slow, heavy-handed and slow-witted TV drama.
It seems to drag on but is not devoid of action that is advanced by its hero Vin Diesel who delivers a cunning role as a witch hunter but seems to fall short in the execution of its supernatural demands- to fight witches- but alas, the movie seems to cater to the extraordinary- and makes you want to rally for VD who is not only up against witches but his own fallible cast members who seem to fit like a wrong suit since his acting is compromised by the fallible sensibilities of Michael Caine or the 'other one' who is known for the Hobbit- but works in some kind of epic way that will likely lead to sequels, VD may have created a acceptable but mediocre franchise.
