Another attempt by Vin Diesel to start up a franchise not named Fast and the Furious in an attempt to extend his brand further throughout Hollywood since Riddick keep crashing and burning, this time taking up what seems like one of the left over New Line scripts from the late 90's that didn't get made about a Witch Hunter who becomes immortal and tied to the life of his mortal enemy when he kills her several hundred years ago and is brought into the fold with an unnamed branch of the church to challenge the supernatural.

Unfortunately Diesel's limitations as an actor make yet again another character he plays pretty flat and hard to connect with outside of attempting to be cool, and most of the editing and cgi is too quick and choppy to really stay with you, and stars like Elijah Wood and Michael Caine just drop in for the paycheck in an attempt to bring some legitimacy to the proceedings which only marginally work.

Would be really cool if outside of the Furious series Vin Diesel would start taking a back seat and finding some projects like Boiler Room or Private Ryan to get some character stuff in to extend and stretch his abilities as an actor before trying again to get some more star roles for himself so that he can give a more convincing performance or at least be more magnetic.

Meh not that I was expecting much.
