Review of The Last Witch Hunter (2015) by Steven B — 12 Feb 2016
OK, so sue me, I like Vin Diesel with a sword. Surprisingly a good showing of the Old Geezers Who Go To The Matinee Alone also. I think that they are trying to start another franchise here, but doubt if it will work.
This is a pretty good movie up to about 3/4 of the way through. Then CGI dementia takes over and it trails off sort of weak. The first part has a lot of subtle humor but that ends as well. Rose Leslie, who played Ygritte in Game of Thrones and almost killed John Snow with sex and an arrow, was really good here.
Michael Caine who has to be about 102 years old was, as always, excellent and Elijah Wood was alright even if his role was kind of dumb. A good action movie that did not let a plot get in the way. Not a bad way to spend a few hours.
