Review of The Last Waltz (1978) by Wil H — 08 Oct 2007
Okay, i'll go on record as the 9,483rd person to announce that this is by far the greatest concert film ever made. (not so much of a stretch for me -- one of my favorite directors and my personal favorite band, so you might imagine i'd like this one.).
I was a few years shy of going to rock shows in 1978 -- hell, I didn't even live in caifornia yet -- but if there's one show I wish to god I could've gone to, it would've been this one. but at least with this I can not only enjoy the show, but enjoy robbie, levon, rick, richard and garth in all their backstage rambling, drunken, narcissistic glory, so that kinda makes up for it.
