Review of The Last Unicorn (1982) by Jo H — 06 Apr 2013
I like unicorns, and I feel this one is beautifully drawn and far more exotic then the horse-with-horn sort more common in movies and books. The story is engaging and you can even forgive that people have a dire need to break into song all the time.
Still, I found the story choppy. If you haven't read the book then parts feel a bit 'glued on' and haphazard. Also sure she's an immortal unicorn, newly human and all her chums are missing, which would bring any girl down, but couldn't she smile once in a while? Who wants to live a zillion years without a bit of a laugh to liven it up?
